The differences between "-기" and "-는 벗".
These seem very simple, but very complicated. So, aside from the detailed grammar explanation, it is summarized into three cases.

1. In the case of using only "-기" , it is Noun + Noun. For example,
"말하기 시험이 어려워." O
"Speaking test is difficult." is correct, but
"말하는 것 시험이 어려워." X
"To speak test is difficult." is wrong.
"지금 쓰기 숙제를 하고 있어." O
"I'm doing my writing homework now" is correct, but
"지금 쓰는 것 숙제를 하고 있어." X
"I'm doing to write my homework now" is incorrect.

2. In the case of using only "NUN", they focus on objects, not actions.
For example, "I know the thing that you like." is correct, but "I know you liking." is wrong. "What is the thing that you are eating now?" is correct, but "what eating now." is wrong.

3. In the case of using both, they focus on actions.

"I don't like waking up early in the morning." and "I don't want to wake up early in the morning." are both correct. "I like to draw pictures." and "I like drawing pictures."  are both correct. There are more complex exceptions, though. I will may explain this next time.
