🇪🇸 language exchanges in Barcelona!
I went to a language exchange meeting for after-school activities.
I paid 3 euros to school for joining, (including drinks) but if I go there alone, there is no admission fee, and I think I buy a drink there.
Usually the meeting starts at 8 p.m. and you stay as long as you want.
First of all, I think the purpose and method are good.
You can meet various people and put stickers( your mother tongue and the language you want to learn) on your chest, you find a partner and practice.

However, the number of participants is around 10, which is too small. Therefore, you cannot choose the country or language you want. When I went, about four people were talking in groups, and the rest were six students from my school, but I couldn't easily join another group. Then, one or two new people came, so I just approached and talked to them.
I observed the behavior of the newcomers when I was talking in a large group.
When someone first enter the room, he/she stand in the center of the room, looking for which group to join, and if he/she make eye contact with any of the group, he/she goes and start a conversation.
But no one looks at people who come for the first time. So eventually someone just sat alone all the time.
Also, even if you want to change your partner after some talking, for the same reason, there is no suitable person or atmosphere. It would have been better if there was someone who organized the meeting or time.
In fact, I have many friends who meet one-on-one in Barcelona and exchange languages, so I was not very attracted to this meeting itself.
But if I find someone who fits my heart while talking, I might make a good friend.
It's all up to yourselves.
I'm satisfied with what I've experienced once.
It's good to go and kill time when you're bored.
But you have to be prepared for the awkwardness anyway. ;)
